Ntim Fordjour Demands Answers Over Disappearance of ECG Containers Worth Millions

Accra, Ghana - 02 April, 2025 - Ghana's opposition lawmaker, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, is demanding transparency and accountability over the disappearance of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers worth over $700 million.
The Ranking Member on Parliament's Defence and Interior Committee in a apost on his X account (formerly Twitter) raised questions about the status of the equipment and logistics contained in 706 containers recently evacuated by National Security.
At the heart of the controversy is whether these 706 containers are part of the 1,340 missing containers. Rev. Ntim Fordjour expressed concerns over the lack of transparency in the handling of the situation, criticizing the Energy Ministry's failure to disclose the National Security evacuation during previous briefings.
The lawmaker posed three key questions:
- Where are the missing ECG containers worth over $700 million?
- Could the 706 containers evacuated by National Security be part of the missing 1,340 containers?
- Have the authorities accounted for the equipment and logistics contained in the 706 containers?
Rev. Ntim Fordjour insisted that all missing containers must be fully accounted for, stressing the need for coherent answers from the relevant authorities.
“Where are the missing ECG containers worth over $700 million? Could these 706 containers evacuated by National Security be part of the missing 1,340 containers?” he asked.
“How come we never heard about this so-called evacuation by National Security in any of the briefing provided by the Energy Minister thus far?” he wrote, demanding clearer explanations from the government.
“We need coherent answers. We need all the containers accounted for!” he asserted, calling for urgent action to resolve the growing concerns surrounding the ECG container scandal,'' he wrote.
The controversy has sparked growing concerns about corruption and mismanagement in Ghana's energy sector.
