NPP Suspends 34 Members in Nanton Constituency Over Election Misconduct

Nanton, Northern Region - 11 Marchh, 2025 - A major purge is underway in Ghana's Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), with 34 members in the Nanton Constituency suspended indefinitely over allegations of serious misconduct during the 2024 general elections.
The suspended members, who include high-ranking officials and grassroots organizers, were accused of secretly collaborating with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and engaging in activities that undermined the NPP's campaign.
A letter signed by the NPP Nanton Constituency Chairman, Abukari Inusah revealed that, a thorough investigation by the party's Disciplinary Committee and Constituency Executive Committee uncovered evidence of wrongdoing, including open campaigning for the NDC, distribution of opposition party materials, and voter intimidation.
“I am writing to respectfully inform the National, Regional, and all party members that the following party members have been decisively suspended as members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) until further notice.
“This is in accordance with Article 3 Clause (7)(1) and Clause (8)(1) of the party’s 2017 Constitution, as amended with effect from February 6, 2025, due to undesirable findings against them by the party’s Disciplinary Committee and Constituency Executive Committee,” the letter stated.
“Twenty-five party members petitioned the leadership of the party, and this petition was carefully considered. At the conclusion of the meeting, a resolution was adopted that established findings of misconduct during and after the December 7, 2024, general elections,'' portions of the letter read.
