NPP Sets January 31, 2026 for Presidential Primaries

Accra, Ghana - 18 June, 2025 -The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed January 31, 2026, as the date for its presidential primaries.

According to General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, the National Council has approved the proposal, exercising its mandate to set the date.

The decision comes after the party's constitution review committee proposed the date, which was adopted by the National Council.
Kodua clarified that the timing of the presidential primaries will not require further approval from the delegates conference.
“The date for our presidential primaries is set for January 31, 2026. That will be the date that we shall hold our presidential primaries. Because there is going to be a proposal or motion for amendment of our constitution, a planning committee has been put in place,” he said.
A nine-member committee, led by former Bekwai MP Joseph Osei Owusu, has been appointed to plan the July 2025 national delegates conference, which will consider additional constitutional amendments for the party.
