NHIA Partners with CyberHawk Limited to Protect Members' Data

Accra, Ghana - 12 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has embarked on a comprehensive cybersecurity enhancement initiative, in collaboration with CyberHawk Limited, a leading private cybersecurity solutions provider.
The partnership aims to fortify the NHIA's digital infrastructure, protecting sensitive information and maintaining the trust of its members.
As part of this effort, the NHIA's Management Information System (MIS) Directorate convened a three-day brainstorming session, commencing on February 11, 2024. The meeting brought together key stakeholders to scrutinize the Authority's IT architecture, identify potential vulnerabilities, and develop strategic plans to enhance its cybersecurity posture.
According to Mr. Daniel Blankson, Acting Director of the MIS Directorate, the NHIA is committed to leveraging cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions to drive its mission forward.
“By leveraging CyberHawk Limited's expertise, the NHIA seeks to fortify its defenses against cyber threats, protecting sensitive information and maintaining the trust of its members,'' he stated.
The NHIA's digital transformation journey has reached a significant milestone, with the Authority actively engaged in adopting and implementing modern digital systems to improve its operations. The partnership with CyberHawk Limited is expected to yield tangible benefits, including enhanced cybersecurity, improved operational efficiency, and cost savings.
On his part, Mr. Ebenezer Hooper, Head of Information Security and Standards Unit stated that the NHIA is actively embracing modern digital systems to enhance its operations and improve overall efficiency.
“The three-day brainstorming meeting will culminate in the development of a robust IT infrastructure, as well as strategic plans to translate security implementations into tangible IT cost savings for the organization,'' he stated.
“There is the need to form a steering committee or IT advisory committee, operated under the Board, so that they can pay more attention in protecting the huge IT investment while ensuring cyber security-related policies are well protected,'' he added.
Mr. Chetan Narayana Murthy, Project Manager at CyberHawk Limited, also praised the partnership, predicting it would enable the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to establish robust cybersecurity protocols.
“This is a huge project that will greatly benefit the NHIA by implementing robust cybersecurity measures, safeguarding their systems, and ultimately protecting the sensitive information of NHIA members and healthcare providers.”
Representatives from various directorates, including Claims, Membership, and Regional Operations, attended the meeting.
