NHIA Invests GH₵200 Million in Free Dialysis Services for Kidney Patients
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has invested a staggering GH₵200 million in healthcare facilities across the nation, marking the beginning of a revolutionary free dialysis program.
This visionary initiative, spearheaded by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, aims to liberate kidney patients from the crippling financial burden of dialysis treatment. Building on the success of a pilot program that catered to patients under 18 and over 60, this comprehensive rollout promises to bring essential dialysis services within reach of all kidney patients nationwide.
The NHIA's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye, proudly announced the release of GH₵200 million to healthcare facilities, heralding the commencement of free dialysis treatment.
“The NHIA has today [Sunday] released over GHS200 million as claims payment to healthcare facilities nationwide as free dialysis treatment begins,'' he stated.
According to him, this milestone marks a significant step towards ensuring equitable access to vital healthcare services for all Ghanaians.
