NDC will stop Agenda 111 project, it's not in their hearts - Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sounded a warning that Ghana's opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), may abandon several key projects initiated by his administration if they win the upcoming elections.
Speaking to a gathering of professionals in the Ashanti Region, President Akufo-Addo expressed concerns that the NDC's past criticisms of projects such as the Agenda 111 hospital initiative suggest that they may not prioritize their completion.
The President cited several examples of projects that are nearing completion, including the Sewua Infectious Disease centre, which has been completed and handed over for use. He also mentioned the Komfo Anokye Maternity and Children’s Hospital, which is 68 percent complete, and the Asante Akyim District Hospital and Kumawu District Hospital, both of which have been completed.
President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaian voters to carefully consider the potential consequences of a change in government ahead of the December 7 elections. He emphasized the importance of continuity in leadership to ensure the completion of key projects.
“Before I leave office on January 7, 2025, I would have completed and outdoored some of them. Sewua Infectious Disease centre and handed over for use, Komfo Anokye Maternity and Children’s Hospital is 68 percent completed. Asante Akyim District Hospital is completed, Kumawu District Hospital is completed.
“With the way some people talk of these projects, the people of Ashanti, think very carefully for December 7. I am convinced that some people will come into office and stop a lot of these projects. The Agenda 111 is not in their hearts, those that are not finished will not be finished, we have seen it before, do not let us make that mistake this time,'' he stated.
