NDC Files Legal Challenge Against Annoh-Dompreh, Seeks His Removal from Parliament
Frank Annoh-Dompreh is MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri

Accra, Ghana - 17 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched a legal challenge to remove Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, from office.

The party alleges that Mr. Annoh-Dompreh's declaration as the winner of the parliamentary seat did not comply with electoral laws and was based on fake result sheets.

According to Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, the NDC's Deputy Director of Elections and IT, the party has filed an election petition at the High Court in Koforidua to contest the result.

Tanko revealed in an interview with Citi News on February 17, that a written notice has been served to Mr. Annoh-Dompreh's legal team, and the matter is expected to be heard soon.

The NDC claims that the declaration was improper, with fake pink sheets and scanned documents used to announce Mr. Annoh-Dompreh as the winner. The party had filed a stay of execution of the mandamus at the High Court, but the declaration went ahead regardless.

This development comes after Mr. Annoh-Dompreh narrowly retained his seat with 29,640 votes, beating the NDC's Amenorpe Philbert Fummey by just 207 votes.

The outcome of the legal challenge could have significant implications for the balance of power in Ghana's parliament.
