NAIMOS Launches All-Out Assault on Galamsey in Western North and Ashanti Regions

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has unleashed a fresh wave of coordinated operations, targeting illegal mining hotspots in the Western North and Ashanti Regions.

In a significant breakthrough, NAIMOS task forces arrested several suspects, including a Chinese national, and seized firearms, ammunition, and mining equipment in the Tano Anwia Forest Reserve.

According to reports, the operation, carried out on October 21, 2025, was part of NAIMOS' ongoing efforts to curb the growing presence of armed mining syndicates within forest reserves. The task force intercepted a group of armed men operating deep within the forest reserve, recovering four pump-action guns, 22 cartridges, and three buckets containing a suspected mining material.

In a related development, NAIMOS extended its campaign to the Boin River Forest Reserve in the Enchi District, where it arrested eight illegal miners and destroyed six mining boats, washing platforms, and other equipment along the Pra River in the Juaso District.

The Ashanti Region operations yielded significant results, with six excavators immobilized, a heavy-duty water pumping machine, hoses, and fuel containers set ablaze, and a generator set seized.
