‘My dad has done a lot for us’ - Jordan Ayew Credits Father Abedi Pele for His Success

Abedi Pele, widely regarded as one of Africa's greatest football talents, has been a source of inspiration for his sons, who have followed in his footsteps.

Jordan Ayew, who has made over 300 Premier League appearances for Leicester City, acknowledges the high expectations that come with being the son of a legendary player. However, he believes that he and his brother, Andre, have managed to navigate these pressures and forge their own paths in the sport.
Parental Support and Guidance
In an interview with Leicester City's website, Jordan Ayew highlighted the importance of his parents in his life and career. He praised his father's influence.
"My Dad has done a lot, for not only me, but my whole family. It’s not easy to come after your father in a sense of the expectations being so high back home and even in Europe," he told the club's website.
“I think me and my brother have coped really well with it and tried to focus on ourselves and ensure that we had our own journey."
He also expressed his appreciation for his mother's support, stating, “My Mum tells me that, but mums are always positive! Personally, that’s how I feel, that my parents can be proud of the journey me and my brother have made."

Abedi Pele: A Legendary Figure in African Football
Abedi Pele is a Ghanaian former professional footballer widely regarded as one of the greatest African footballers of all time. Born on November 5, 1964, in Accra, Ghana, he grew up in the town of Dome and began his football career with local club Great Falcons at the age of six.
Abedi Pele's professional career took off in 1980 with Real Tamale United in Ghana. He then moved to Al Sadd in Qatar for a $1,000 transfer fee after the 1982 African Cup of Nations. His impressive performances led to stints with European clubs, including Chamois Niort in France, Marseille in France, where he won the UEFA Champions League in 1993, Lille in France on loan from Marseille, Lyon in France, Torino in Italy, 1860 Munich in Germany, and Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates.
Abedi Pele earned 73 caps for the Ghana national team, scoring 19 goals between 1982 and 1998. He was a key player in Ghana's victorious 1982 African Cup of Nations campaign and holds the record for most appearances at the African Cup of Nations.
Abedi Pele's achievements have been recognized with numerous awards. He was named France Football African Player of the Year three consecutive times. He was also named BBC African Sports Star of the Year in 1992. Abedi Pele has received the Confederation of African Football award twice.
He was awarded the Golden Ball award for best player at the 1992 African Cup of Nations. Abedi Pele was also a top contender for the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 1991 and 1992.
