Mobile Money Transactions Hit Record GHC 365bn in April

Accra, Ghana - 24 May, 2025 - Ghana's mobile money landscape witnessed a remarkable surge in April 2025, with the total transaction value hitting a record GHC 365.0 billion, according to the Bank of Ghana's latest economic and financial data summary.

This represents a 3.8% month-on-month increase from March 2025's GHC 351.7 billion, marking the highest monthly value since the start of the year.

The growth underscores the increasing reliance on mobile financial services for personal and business transactions, driven by rising mobile penetration, expanding agent networks, and the convenience of mobile-based platforms.

The number of mobile money transactions also rose, from 764 million in March to 778 million in April, highlighting mobile money's crucial role in promoting financial inclusion and streamlining digital payments nationwide. As Ghana's digital economy continues to deepen, analysts expect the upward trajectory to persist, supported by favorable regulatory frameworks.
