Let the Cedi Thrive Under Your Leadership - Duncan-Williams tells Mahama
Accra, Ghana - 1 July, 2025 - The Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to spearhead a bold transformation agenda aimed at strengthening Ghana's economy and uniting the nation under a clear, long-term development vision.
Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving held at the State House in Accra on Tuesday, July 1, Archbishop Duncan-Williams emphasized the need for a comprehensive national agenda that transcends political cycles.
The cleric called on President Mahama to make a lasting impact during his leadership, citing the need for the Ghanaian cedi to thrive and flourish under his stewardship.
“Mr President, within three years, make a difference. Impact this world and change the narrative of Ghana. Let the Cedi thrive under your leadership. Let the Cedi flourish under your leadership and let things get better and better under your leadership like never before,” he stated.
Archbishop Duncan-Williams also stressed the importance of a values-based national identity anchored in patriotism and faith, warning against political divisions that hinder national progress.
“We need to develop a strong love for God. Also, love the country and the love for Ghana,” he said.
According to the Archbishop, countries like China, India, and Dubai have achieved significant development through long-term national visions that span 100 years, and Ghana should adopt a similar approach.
He expressed optimism that under President Mahama's leadership, a national agenda can be established to guide all stakeholders towards a common goal.
“Ghana, our motherland, is where our vision and agenda are. Under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, a national agenda will be established to compel all stakeholders to follow that agenda,” he added.
The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, which brought together political leaders, clergy, and civil society groups, was held under the theme of thanksgiving and hope. The event provided a platform for attendees to intercede for peace, unity, and direction for the nation.
