Ministry of Roads Halts Implementation National Roads Authority Act
Accra, Ghana - 08 Feb, 2025 - The Ministry of Roads and Highways has put the brakes on implementing the National Roads Authority Act 2024 (Act 1118), citing the need for more stakeholder engagement.
Passed by Parliament in July 2024, Act 1118 aimed to merge the Ghana Highway Authority, the Department of Urban Roads, and the Department of Feeder Roads into a single entity to improve management and coordination of Ghana's road infrastructure.
In a statement released on February 7, the Ministry explained that the suspension is a response to concerns raised by key stakeholders, demonstrating the Government's commitment to addressing these issues.
