Malik Basintale Vows to Block Zoomlion's Contract Renewal Over Poor Pay

Accra, Ghana - 25 April, 2025 - Youth Employment Agency CEO Malik Basintale has raised serious concerns over the Government of Ghana's contract with Zoomlion Ghana Limited, citing unfavorable terms and conditions for workers.

According to Basintale, the contract, which has been in place for seven years and nine months, has been unfavorable to workers, and he questioned why the Akufo-Addo government agreed to such terms.

In a passionate Facebook post, he pledged to prioritize the welfare of workers, stating that every worker deserves satisfactory pay for their labor and not the meagre GHS250 monthly salary.

Basintale's remarks come as part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s broader vision to reset the country and prioritize the welfare of citizens.

As CEO of the YEA, Basintale has emphasized the need to protect the interests of Ghanaian youth and workers, and his stance on the Zoomlion contract reflects this commitment.

“For 7 years, 9 months, the NPP renewed the Zoomlion contract in its current state, paying the Ghanaian Youth/worker Ghc250”.

“I promise on my honour as I stand by the grave of my late DAD, NOT to RENEW the contract in its CURRENT STATE or FORM. It is EVIL for the Previous government to have committed to this and I SHALL STOP IT,” he wrote.

“If my mother/Brother/Sister were a Zoomlion worker, I wouldn’t be happy with either of them taking Ghc250 as Salary and as such, I can’t be happy with you, your mother, father, brother or sister taking the same.”
