Mahama to Launch 'Adwumawura' Programme Today in Kumasi

Kumasi, Ghana - 28 April, 2025 - President John Dramani Mahama will today launch the Adwumawura Programme, a flagship initiative aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs and stimulating economic growth, at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi.
The programme, which is a key promise by the government, will facilitate the creation of at least 10,000 businesses annually, with a special focus on mentoring and supporting young people.
The launch, scheduled for today in Kumasi's Prempeh Assembly Hall, is part of the government's efforts to address the country's unemployment rate and fulfill its 120-day social contract.
The Adwumawura Programme is designed to support young entrepreneurs in setting up and growing their businesses, and is complemented by other initiatives such as the National Apprenticeship Programme and the Digital Jobs Initiative.
The programme aligns with President Mahama's 24-Hour Economy policy, which aims to transform Ghana into an import-substitution and export-led economy, promising increased employment opportunities, productivity, and revenue. The policy is backed by strategic investments in infrastructure, security, and energy.
During his visit to the Ashanti Region, President Mahama is also expected to launch the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (Mahama Cares) and the National Apprenticeship Programme, further demonstrating the government's commitment to improving the lives of Ghanaians.
