Mahama Suspends Cyber Security Boss for 'Inappropriate and Embarrassing' Conduct
Divine Selasi Agbeti, Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority

Accra, Ghana – 20 July, 2025 - In a shocking move, the Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), Divine Selasi Agbeti, has been suspended for two weeks following a directive from the Office of the President.

The suspension related to a breach of protocol and misconduct is a result of an investigation into Agbeti's actions, which were deemed to be in contravention of established protocols. The details of the investigation are yet to be made public, but the suspension suggests that the allegations against Agbeti were serious enough to warrant immediate action.

Divine Selasi Agbeti, susposedly engaged the services of a uniformed military officer as a personal bodyguard during public events without the required authorisation.

A letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, on July 15, 2025, expressed the presidency’s strong disapproval of Mr Agbeti’s conduct describing his use of a uniformed soldier as “inappropriate” and said the incident had brought embarrassment to the government.

The two-week suspension is expected to allow the relevant authorities conduct a detailed enquiry to determine any further disciplinary action.
