Justice Baffoe-Bonnie Set to Lead Ghana's Judiciary as Chief Justice    
His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has been nominated as the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana.

Accra ,Ghana – September 23,2025 - President John Dramani Mahama has nominated His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana. The nomination, announced on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, was made in accordance with Article 144(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

According to a statement from the Presidency Communications, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie has served with diligence and integrity throughout his distinguished judicial career at the High Court, Court of Appeal, and currently the Supreme Court. The statement highlights his invaluable contributions to the development of Ghanaian jurisprudence.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie has earned the esteem of the Bench, the Bar, and the wider legal fraternity for his intellect, impartiality, and unwavering commitment to justice. He has a wealth of experience and long service on the Bench, rendering him eminently qualified for the high office of Chief Justice. Justice Baffoe-Bonnie has been serving as Acting Chief Justice since April 22, 2025.

The nomination is subject to consideration by the Council of State as per constitutional requirements. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP and Spokesperson to the President, signed the statement announcing the nomination.
