Kusasi Chief Shot Dead in Brazen Attack
Accra, Ghana – 23 July, 2025 – A shocking incident has rocked the Asawase community in the Ashanti Region, where a Kusasi Chief, Abdul-Malik Azenbe, was shot dead at his residence on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The attack, which occurred around 8:40 p.m. near the Asawase F-Line Community Centre, has sent shockwaves throughout the region.
According to eyewitnesses, two men arrived on a motorbike, with one of them wielding an AK-47 rifle. The gunman opened fire on the chief, and both assailants fled the scene. Azenbe was rushed to the Manhyia District Hospital and later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Azenbe, who was enskinned as Kadi Naaba just three months ago, also served as the Kaadi Divisional Area Chief in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region. His death has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for swift action to apprehend the perpetrators.
Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, visited the bereaved family and assured them of a thorough investigation to bring the culprits to justice. The police have tightened security in the area and are working to identify and apprehend the suspects.
