Accra, Ghana – 23 July, 2025 – A shocking incident has rocked the Asawase community in the Ashanti Region, where a Kusasi Chief, Abdul-Malik Azenbe, was shot dead at his residence on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The attack, which occurred around 8:40 p.m. near the Asawase F-Line Community Centre, has sent shockwaves throughout the region.

According to eyewitnesses, two men arrived on a motorbike, with one of them wielding an AK-47 rifle. The gunman opened fire on the chief, and both assailants fled the scene. Azenbe was rushed to the Manhyia District Hospital and later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
