Kofi Adams is Minister Designate for Sports and Recreation and MP for Buem constituency.

Accra, Ghana - 21 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's President John Mahama has nominated Iddie Kofi Adams, Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, as the new Minister of Sports and Recreation.

This appointment marks a significant change in leadership, as Adams replaces Mustafa Ussif, who held the position since 2021 under the previous administration.

Adams, 49, brings a unique blend of experience in education and politics to the role. With a background in zoology and epidemiology, he has demonstrated his commitment to grassroots sports development. In a previous interview with GhOne TV, Adams expressed his enthusiasm for the position, stating, "I will gladly accept the Sports Minister position if appointed," he told GhOne TV.

"Let's return to grassroots sports and implement it effectively,'' he added.

As Minister of Sports and Recreation, Adams is expected to tackle pressing issues, including:

- Sports Infrastructure: Upgrading and developing facilities to support local and national teams
- National Teams Funding: Securing resources to support Ghana's teams in international competitions
- Performance at Major Tournaments: Implementing strategies to improve Ghana's standing in global sports events
