John Mahama set to return as President of Ghana Today

Accra, Ghana - January 7, 2025 - In a grand ceremony at the Independence Square in Accra, former President John Dramani Mahama is set to take the oath of office today, Jan 7, 2025, for a second time, marking a historic comeback in Ghana's presidential election.

Mahama, leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), secured a decisive mandate from the electorate with 6,328,397 votes (56.55%) from 267 constituencies, defeating Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In his victory speech, Mahama emphasized the need for unity and collective purpose, calling on all Ghanaians to work together for the country's progress.

“This victory is not mine alone—it belongs to the Ghanaian people who have placed their faith in our vision for a brighter future.”

“This is a time for healing, reconciliation, and shared purpose. Together, we will build a stronger, more prosperous Ghana,'' he stated.

Mahama's campaign focused on addressing pressing national challenges, including unemployment, improved healthcare, enhanced infrastructure, and tackling corruption. His victory has been hailed as a "new dawn" for the country, with supporters expressing their confidence in his vision for a brighter future.

As Mahama prepares to lead the nation again, he faces the task of addressing economic instability and social inequalities. Political analysts note that his administration will need to work swiftly to restore public trust and deliver on campaign promises.

The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be attended by dignitaries from across Africa and beyond, marking a significant moment in Ghana's democratic history.
