International Women's Day: Jean Mensa Reaffirms Commitment to Gender Equality

Accra, Ghana - 09 March, 2025 - Ghana's Electoral Commission Chair, Jean Mensa, has marked International Women's Day by calling for renewed efforts to achieve gender equality.
While acknowledging progress, Mensa emphasized the need for further action to break down barriers limiting women's participation in society.
Mensa in a statement, congratulated female staff at the Electoral Commission for their dedication and hard work, which she said played a crucial role in delivering peaceful and credible elections in December 2024.
“Your dedication and hard work played a key role in delivering the peaceful, credible, and transparent electoral results our nation witnessed on December 7, 2024,” she said.
Despite recognizing Ghana's strides in gender equality, Mensa noted that much work remains to be done.
“Let’s unite to accelerate progress and work together to build a fair and just society for all.''
Mensa's message also extended to young women and girls, encouraging them to remain confident and determined. She celebrated the women who have shaped the Electoral Commission over the past 30 years, reaffirming the EC's commitment to advancing gender equality.
“To all the women who have made a lasting impact on the Electoral Commission of Ghana over the last 30 years, we celebrate you today and remain committed to advancing gender equality together.”
