IGP Dampare sets up Special Investigative team to probe 2020, 2024 electoral killings
Accra, Ghana - 21 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has swiftly responded to President John Dramani Mahama's directive to investigate the election-related deaths that occurred in 2020 and 2024.
According to the Chronicle Newspaper, a specialized investigative team, comprising highly skilled and experienced officers of the Ghana Police Service, has been established at the CID Headquarters. The team, chaired by Chief Superintendent Joseph Nanegbe, has been tasked with submitting a report within a stipulated timeframe.
Dr. Dampare has assured the President that all necessary resources will be made available to the team to ensure a thorough investigation.
The probe will build upon the groundwork laid by the IGP's team since 2021, including the Cold Case Unit's efforts to investigate unresolved crimes.
