I will not allow any DCE to disrespect any Member of Parliament - Ahmed Ibrahim

Accra, Ghana - 21 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's Local Government Minister designate, Ahmed Ibrahim, has pledged to enforce mutual respect between Members of Parliament and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives. 

Speaking before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Tuesday, Mr. Ibrahim emphasized the need for cooperation and open communication to ensure effective governance.

He warned that he would not tolerate any disrespect towards MPs by DCEs, stressing that a harmonious working relationship is crucial for national development and delivering essential services to the public.

Mr. Ibrahim also highlighted the importance of clearly defined roles and open communication to prevent misunderstandings and promote collaboration.

"I will not allow any DCE to disrespect any Member of Parliament," Mr Ibrahim asserted. "In the same way, I’ll ensure there is a common platform for smooth communication between MPs and DCEs."
