I hope Mahama completes Agenda 111 Health Project - Akufo-Addo

Accra, Ghana- 03 Jan, 2025 - In his final address to Parliament, President Nana Akufo-Addo has appealed to incoming President John Mahama to complete the ambitious Agenda 111 project, aimed at revolutionizing Ghana's healthcare infrastructure.

The project, initiated by Akufo-Addo's administration in 2021, seeks to construct 111 hospitals and two psychiatric hospitals across 90 districts, addressing significant gaps in healthcare access, particularly in rural areas.

Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of completing the project, which has already seen three hospitals commissioned, with the remaining projects at various stages of development. He expressed optimism that the incoming administration will prioritize the project's completion, ensuring Ghana's health infrastructure is robust and reliable.

"The most important intervention is the Agenda 111 project that we have embarked upon. I am hoping that the incoming Mahama administration will ensure that the project is completed, so we can have our health infrastructure in a sound state," he stated.

The Agenda 111 project is a cornerstone of Akufo-Addo's efforts to strengthen Ghana's healthcare system, which has faced significant challenges in recent years. The project's completion is expected to significantly improve healthcare outcomes, especially in districts lacking major health facilities.

However, the project's progress has been hindered by funding constraints, with the government recently announcing the need for additional funds to continue construction. Despite these challenges, Akufo-Addo remains confident that the project will be completed, leaving a lasting legacy in Ghana's healthcare sector.
