Horrific Fatal Collision Claims Seven Lives on Nkawkaw-Accra Highway
Ghana, August 27, 2025 - A devastating collision on the Nkawkaw-Accra highway has claimed the lives of seven people, leaving families and loved ones in shock. The accident occurred on Tuesday, August 26, when a Sprinter bus traveling from Somanya in the Eastern Region to Sefwi , in the Western North Region clashed with a cargo truck at Nkawada No. 2.
The Sprinter bus collided head-on with the cargo truck, resulting in catastrophic damage and loss of life.
Six passengers lost their lives at the crash scene, while the seventh victim tragically succumbed to injuries during transportation to the hospital. Multiple others sustained injuries, prompting emergency responders to rush them to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment.
The driver and mate of the cargo truck escaped unhurt but have been taken into police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
Preliminary findings suggest the driver of the cargo truck may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Reports also indicate he was unaware that it was raining at the time of the crash, raising concerns about driver fatigue and road awareness during adverse weather conditions.
