High Court orders CLOGSAG to call off strike over salary dispute
Accra, Ghana - Nov 8, 2024 - The Accra High Court has directed the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to immediately call off its nationwide strike, which began on November 7.
The strike was sparked by the government's delay in finalizing a new salary structure, despite a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed one and a half years ago.
CLOGSAG's Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, had deemed the January 1, 2025 implementation date unrealistic, prompting the strike. However, the National Labour Commission (NLC) obtained an injunction, forcing CLOGSAG to halt industrial action.
Justice Frank Aboadwe Rockson's court order mandates CLOGSAG members, executives, officers, agents, servants, and employees to:
- Cease Strike Action: Immediately stop the nationwide strike initiated on November 7.
- Comply with NLC Directives: Adhere to the National Labour Commission's directives issued on November 6.
This development follows CLOGSAG's previous threats to strike, citing unresolved salary structure negotiations.
