GRIDCo Gets New Board, Minister Urges Strengthening of National Grid
Accra ,Ghana – August 18,2025 - The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has officially inaugurated the reconstituted Board of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama. This move underscores the government's commitment to enhancing Ghana's energy infrastructure.
At the inauguration ceremony, Minister Jinapor emphasized the critical importance of a robust national grid in supporting Ghana's economic growth.
He emphasized that with the country's power demand on the rise, there is a need for continuous investment in both generation and transmission infrastructure. "Rising power demand requires continuous expansion of generation and transmission capacity. There is a critical need to strengthen the grid with additional infrastructure to evacuate power efficiently and reliably," Jinapor stated.
The Board Chairperson, Kuukua Maurice Ankrah, expressed her commitment to working diligently to meet the government's objectives, emphasizing the importance of GRIDCo in ensuring reliable power transmission and supporting Ghana's economic development.
The reconstituted Board of GRIDCo comprises:

- Acting Managing Director: Ing. Mark Awuah Baah
- Ing. Daniel Atchule
- Ing. Joshua Anaman Sackey
- Mr. Muhammed Bashiru Nii Narh Alema
- Hon. Solomon Kuyon
- Hon. Joseph Kwame Kumah
This development comes on the heels of similar appointments and initiatives in the energy sector. Recently, Jinapor inaugurated the reconstituted governing board of the Volta River Authority (VRA), tasking them to lead Ghana's energy transition.
