Accra, Ghana - 27 June, 2025 - The Ghanaian government is set to launch its highly anticipated 24-hour economy policy on July 2, 2025, with the aim of creating more jobs and reducing unemployment across the country.

The policy, which was a major campaign promise of the National Democratic Congress during the 2024 election campaign, is designed to transform the country's economy and make it more productive.

According to Goosie Tanoh, Presidential Advisor on the 24-hour Economy policy, the programme has been expanded into three anchors: production transformation, supply chain and market efficiency, and human capital development.

These anchors are supported by eight sub-programmes, including Roll 24, which focuses on agriculture, Make 24, which focuses on manufacturing, and Connect 24, which focuses on supply chain management.

Presenting the policy document to the Speaker of Parliament on Thursday, June 26, 2025, Mr. Tanoh noted that the policy also includes initiatives to promote mindset change and productivity, as well as a strong digital technology training component that will be added to the TVET curriculum.

Additionally, the government plans to showcase Ghana's rich cultural heritage to the rest of the world through the "Show Ghana" component, which is expected to attract more tourists and increase revenue generation.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has welcomed the policy but has also called for legislation to back it up. He believes that the 24-hour Economy Secretariat must make a deliberate effort to get Parliament to pass a bill to ensure the continuity of the policy even when there is a change of government.

The launch of the 24-hour economy policy is expected to have a significant impact on the country's economy and job market.
