Gov't Must Reinstate Sacked Workers Before We Join National Economic Dialogue - Minority
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi

Accra, Ghana - 28 Feb, 2025 - Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, has set a precondition for the Minority Caucus's participation in the proposed National Economic Dialogue, insisting that the government must reinstate thousands of young workers sacked from public sector jobs before they join the dialogue.

Oppong Nkrumah argues that it's unfair for the government to sack young people and then invite the Minority to a national economic dialogue without addressing the issue. The National Economic Dialogue aims to evaluate Ghana's economy, identify structural reforms, and build consensus on key policies to tackle the ongoing economic crisis.

“We are happy to participate in the National Economic Dialogue if the administration will reinstate the thousands of young people that it has sacked from public sector jobs.

“You don’t get to sack young people from the jobs that they have been rightly employed to, and say that after you had sacked them, and you are home, you are inviting us to a national economic dialogue. Reinstate them, invite us to a national economic dialogue and we will participate in it,” he stated an interview on the 'Eyewitness News' on Citi FM  on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
