Gold Stars FC Etches Name in History Books with First Ghana Premier League Title

Accra, Ghana - 09 June, 2025 - Gold Stars FC has etched its name in Ghanaian football history by clinching its first-ever Ghana Premier League title. The team achieved this remarkable feat by demolishing Accra Lions 4-0 at Duns Park on Sunday, securing the championship with a three-point cushion.

Abdul Farouk Amoaful opened the scoring in the fourth minute, followed by Kelvin Oppong's goal in the 19th minute. Samuel Kumi and Frank Amankwah added second-half goals to seal the victory.

The win not only marked a historic moment for Gold Stars FC but also condemned Accra Lions to relegation, just a season after finishing second in the 2023/24 campaign. The Lions' disappointing season ended in turmoil, with the team finishing 15th.

In other matches, Nations FC, who had led the title race, fell short after a 2-0 defeat to Heart of Lions, dashing their title hopes. Asante Kotoko edged out bitter rivals Hearts of Oak for fourth place via head-to-head record, despite a 3-1 defeat to Vision FC.

Hearts of Oak ended their campaign on a positive note with a 1-0 win over FC Samartex 1996.

Medeama SC wrapped up a frustrating campaign with a 2-1 home defeat to Berekum Chelsea, finishing eighth. Aduana FC ended on a high note, sealing a 3-1 win over Basake Holy Stars, who managed to avoid relegation in their debut top-flight season. Dreams FC shone with a 4-1 victory over relegated Legon Cities, while Bechem United edged out Young Apostles 1-0, ensuring the Apostles' survival in the Premier League.
