Ghana Strengthens Anti-Corruption Efforts with New EU-Funded €12.7m Project

Accra, Ghana - 22 March, 2025 - In a bid to strengthen the rule of law and fight corruption, Ghana has launched a three-year project funded by the European Union to the tune of EUR 12.7 million.
The initiative, implemented under the #PAIReD programme, aims to support Ghana's ongoing anti-corruption efforts by bolstering judicial and law enforcement institutions, improving collaboration between anti-corruption actors, and empowering civil society and media to promote accountability.
The project launch brought together key stakeholders, including the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, and the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
Anti-corruption advocacy groups, such as the Ghana Integrity Initiative and the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition, also participated in the launch.
Ghana's fight against corruption has gained momentum in recent years, with the government implementing various measures to tackle the issue.
The new project is expected to further boost these efforts, promoting transparency, justice, and accountability in the country.
The European Union's funding of the project demonstrates its commitment to supporting Ghana's development goals, particularly in the areas of good governance and the rule of law. As Ghana continues to grapple with the challenges of corruption, this project offers a timely and significant boost to its anti-corruption efforts.
