Ghana Ranks 8th in Africa for Internet Quality - Surfshark Report Reveals

Accra, Ghana - 10 Feb, 2025 - A recent report by Surfshark has revealed that Ghana has secured the 8th spot in Africa for internet quality, according to the 2024 Digital Quality of Life Index.
The report also highlights the stark contrast between Africa's digital haves and have-nots.
The country's internet quality index score of 0.304 places it behind Mauritius, Ivory Coast, Egypt, and Algeria, which took the top four spots.
Despite Ghana's progress, many African nations continue to grapple with sluggish internet speeds, exorbitant data costs, and patchy network coverage.
The Surfshark report evaluated 121 countries across five key pillars: internet affordability, internet quality, e-infrastructure, e-security, and e-government.
The disparity is further accentuated by the scarcity of non-European nations in the ranking as European countries dominated the top 10 positions in the index, with only 18 nations outside of Europe making it to the top 50.
And with the highest-ranked nation from Africa, Mauritius, languishing in a mediocre 66th position, this highlights the urgent need for concerted efforts to bridge the digital chasm.
