Actor Mawuli Semevo in Critical Condition After Devastating House Fire
Accra, Ghana - 10 Feb, 2025 - A devastating house fire has left veteran Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo in a critical condition, with severe burns covering 44% of his body.
According to Beyond Burns International, a non-profit organisation supporting burns survivors, Mr. Semevo's life hangs in the balance.
Judith Addison, a representative of Beyond Burns International, visited Mr. Semevo and described his injuries as extremely severe.
'He has suffered burns up to 44% of his body. He has respiratory injuries and cannot breathe properly," she said.
According to her, the fire occurred while Mr. Semevo was asleep in his house.
“Beyond Burns International got an SOS that something unfortunate has happened. We came here today and veteran actor Mawuli Semevo has been involved in severe fire accident. I came here to see him and his life is hanging in the balance," Judith said in the video report posted on their social media pages.
''This is very serious. From his head to his legs. Everywhere caught fire and he has lost all his hair," she added.
Mawuli Semevo is a celebrated figure in Ghana's film industry, known for his notable roles in films like "Harvest at 17, 'Like Cotton Twines, 'A Stab in the Dark' and 'Escape of Love'". His condition has sparked widespread concern, with fans and colleagues rallying around him in support.
As Mr. Semevo fights for his life, Beyond Burns International has issued an urgent appeal for support and assistance to ensure he receives the medical care he desperately needs.
