Ghana, Morocco to Collaborate on Sea Port Expansion, Railway Development

Accra, Ghana - 08 June, 2025 - Ghana's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has successfully concluded a working visit to Morocco, yielding significant agreements that promise to bolster bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to a statement on his X account, Ablakwa revealed that the agreements cover key areas including education, agriculture, aviation, and business.
Notably, Morocco has agreed to double scholarships for Ghanaian students from 70 to 140 annually.
Additionally, the two countries have pledged to cooperate on food security, with Morocco donating 2,000 metric tons of fertilizers to Ghanaian farmers and providing technical support for a modern fertilizer manufacturing plant.
Ghanaian youth will also benefit from training opportunities at Morocco's prestigious pilot training academy, as President Mahama prepares to revive Ghana Airways.
An educational exchange program will see Moroccan students pursue courses at Ghana's Maritime University and other institutions, fostering people-to-people diplomacy.
A high-level business forum scheduled for October 2025 in Morocco will provide a platform for Ghanaian companies to collaborate with Moroccan counterparts, potentially leading to partnerships and joint ventures.
Priority projects identified include sea port expansion, railway development, textile production, and pharmaceuticals, expected to drive economic growth and development in Ghana.
The agreements underscore the commitment of both countries to strengthen bilateral ties and promote mutual benefit. Minister Okudzeto Ablakwa's visit has set the stage for enhanced cooperation, with implementation expected to yield positive outcomes for Ghana's development.
