GES Initiates Public Survey to Improve Free SHS Policy and Double Track System

Accra, Ghana - 23 Feb, 2025 - The Ghana Education Service (GES) is seeking the public's input on the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and the Double Track System through a nationwide survey.
Launched on the Facebook page of GES on February 22, 2025, the survey aims to understand the impact of these policies, identify challenges, and gather recommendations for improvement.
The Free SHS policy, introduced to make secondary education more accessible, has received both praise and criticism. While it has increased access to education, concerns persist about overcrowding, inadequate infrastructure, and teaching quality, particularly under the Double Track System. This system, designed to accommodate the growing student population, has raised concerns about its effectiveness.
By participating in the survey, students, parents, teachers, and the general public can share their experiences, satisfaction levels, and suggestions for reform.
According to the GES, the feedback gathered will inform discussions at the National Education Forum, currently underway in Ho, Volta Region, and shape future education policies.
