Ga Mantse Honours Idris Elba as Son of Ga Land, Welcomes His Vision for World-Class Film Studio

Accra, Ghana - 27 March, 2025 - Ghana's Ga Mantse Palace played host to a grand ceremony honouring renowned actor and filmmaker Idris Elba.

The British star was welcomed as a son of the Ga land by King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II during his visit to Accra on Tuesday. March 25, 2025.

Elba shared his vision for a state-of-the-art film studio and school in Accra, designed to nurture young Ghanaian talent and propel the country to the forefront of African cinema. The project has received enthusiastic backing from Ghana's entertainment industry and local leaders.

“One of the goals I have tried to achieve is to bring the industry back to Africa,” he passionately declared.

“We have earmarked 22 acres of land beside Osu Castle for a fantastic studio and school that will serve our community in Accra,'' he stated.

The renowned British actor and filmmaker was welcomed with vibrant drumming, dancing, and a showcase of Ga traditions during his visit.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II praised Elba's initiative, highlighting its importance in shaping the future of Ghana's youth. "Our children lack direction, our youth lack direction, and we need these tools," he said.

The event was attended by key figures in Ghana's entertainment industry including Chris Attoh, Kalsoum Sinare, Adjetey Annagn among others,who expressed enthusiasm for the proposed film hub.
