Former EC Deputy Chairperson Amadu Sulley Passes Away

Accra, Ghana - 02 March, 2025 - The Electoral Commission of Ghana has lost a veteran figure with the passing of Alhaji Amadu Sulley, former Deputy Chairperson in charge of Operations.
His death on Saturday March 1, coinciding with the first day of Ramadan, has sent shockwaves through Ghana's electoral community.
The family of the late Alhaji Amadu Sulley issued a statement, made public by 3news, announcing his passing.
Alhaji Sulley's burial rites, conducted in accordance with Islamic customs, took place on Sunday at his residence and the Madina Muslim Cemetery in Accra. The family has invited friends, loved ones, and the Muslim community to join in the burial proceedings.
Tributes have poured in from across the political spectrum, with politicians, civil society groups, and electoral experts paying homage to his contribution to Ghana's democratic development.
His tenure at the Electoral Commission was marked by significant events, including the 2016 general elections, which he helped oversee.
