Former ASEPA Boss Mensah Thompson Appointed SEC Deputy Director-General

Accra, Ghana - 12 May, 2025 - President John Mahama has named Mensah Thompson, head of the Alliance For Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), as the new Acting Deputy Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Thompson's appointment aims to strengthen the SEC's leadership as it implements crucial reforms to boost investor confidence and enhance regulatory oversight in Ghana's capital markets.
With his legal background and experience in public accountability, Thompson is well-positioned to support the SEC's efforts to improve governance and enforcement within the securities market.
He will work alongside Acting Director-General James Klutse Avedzi to regulate and develop Ghana's capital markets, ensuring market integrity and protecting investors.
The appointment comes as the SEC works to restore investor trust amid market volatility and recent financial sector cleanups.
