'Efiewura' Star Koo Fori Granted GHS 320K Bail Over $50K Fraud Allegations

Accra, Ghana - 12 May, 2025 - Ghanaian actor Koo Fori, whose real name is Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, has pleaded not guilty to charges of defrauding a US-based Ghanaian of $50,000. The actor, known for his role in the popular TV series "Efiewura," was arrested by the Accra Central Police Command on May 9 and appeared before the Dansoman Circuit Court on May 12.

According to police sources, Koo Fori allegedly received the funds from the victim under the pretext of facilitating a legitimate investment opportunity but failed to fulfill the agreement and went into hiding. The victim, who is based in California, complained to the authorities after several failed attempts to retrieve the money.

Koo Fori was granted bail to the tune of ₵320,000 with three sureties. Investigations revealed that the actor defaulted on the repayment and ignored a summons to appear before the Dansoman District Court on April 17, 2025, resulting in a bench warrant being issued for his arrest.

The case has sparked widespread interest, given Koo Fori's popularity in Ghana's entertainment industry.
