Foreign Ministry to Revoke Unsurrendered Diplomatic Passports by March 17

Accra, Ghana - 11 March, 2025 - The Ghanaian government has issued a final warning to individuals holding diplomatic and service passports, urging them to surrender their documents by March 17, 2025.
This move follows a directive from the Office of the President, aimed at ensuring the proper use and administration of official travel documents in compliance with national and international standards.
A total of 791 passports remain unaccounted for, with holders failing to return them despite an initial announcement on January 15, 2025. The affected categories include former government officials, politicians, judges, and businessmen, among others.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, passports that are not surrendered by the deadline will be cancelled and placed on the Stop-Watch List for seizure at any of Ghana's entry and exit points. This measure is part of the government's efforts to prevent the misuse of official passports and maintain the integrity of the country's travel documents.
