Fire engulfs Accra's Circle Odawna, 15 structures destroyed
Accra, Ghana - Nov 14, 2024 - A devastating fire swept through Accra's Circle Odawna on Thursday, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The blaze, which broke out in the pre-dawn hours, razed over 15 structures, sending shockwaves through the community.
Thanks to the swift intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the flames were contained, preventing a potentially catastrophic spread to a nearby warehouse and over 200 adjacent structures.
This latest incident raises concerns about fire safety in the area, which has witnessed a similar blaze in recent times.
Eyewitnesses report that the fire erupted near the site of the previous incident, which had damaged several wooden structures.
As investigations into the cause of the fire continue, the GNFS is urging residents and business owners to prioritize fire safety measures, emphasizing the vulnerability of the area to such disasters.
