Declare Your Assets by July 15 - Mahama Warns MMDCEs
Accra, Ghana - 18 June, 2025 - President John Dramani Mahama has set a July 15, 2025, deadline for all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to declare their assets, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in public service.
The move is part of the President's efforts to combat corruption and foster confidence in public officials, as mandated by Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution. The article requires public officers appointed into office to declare their assets before and after holding such office.
"I wish to remind you that you are among the office holders required to declare your assets, and so I expect that by July 15, all of you will have declared your assets," he said while addressing them at an orientation and training programme for MMDCEs from across the country in Accra on Wednesday, July 18.
Since assuming office in January 2025, President Mahama has been keen on ensuring that all appointees adhere to this constitutional requirement. He warned that defaulters will face necessary sanctions, citing instances where some appointees have already been held accountable.
