CLOGSAG Strike: Next Steps to be Decided on Feb 22
Isaac Bampoe Addo is the Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG)

Accra, Ghana - 20 Feb, 2025 - The National Executive Council of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) is set to meet on Saturday, February 22, to assess the ongoing strike and decide on the next steps.

The strike, which began on Thursday, February 20, is a response to the government's decision to retain Samuel Adom Botchway as head of the Births and Deaths Registry, despite promises to replace him.

CLOGSAG's Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, instructed members to continue the strike until further notice.

The association argues that Botchway's appointment violates the neutrality principle, which prohibits politically affiliated individuals from holding key positions in the Civil Service.
