Cardi B Wins Big: Jury Clears Rapper of Assault Allegations in $24M Lawsuit
Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B has been cleared of all assault allegations in a $24 million civil lawsuit filed by a security guard, Emani Ellis. The decision was made by a Los Angeles jury on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, after less than an hour of deliberation.
The lawsuit stemmed from an alleged altercation in 2018 outside a Beverly Hills obstetrician's office, where Ellis claimed Cardi B physically attacked her, spat on her, and hurled racial slurs. However, Cardi B denied the accusations, stating that the incident was strictly verbal and that she never touched Ellis.
Cardi B took the stand, firmly denying the allegations and explaining that her anger arose from being filmed without consent during a private medical appointment.
Witnesses, including a receptionist and a doctor present at the clinic, testified that they saw no physical assault, reinforcing Cardi B's defense.
The jury unanimously sided with Cardi B, ruling her not liable for any of the alleged actions.
After the verdict, Cardi B expressed relief and a strong stance against false claims, stating, "Even if I'm on my deathbed, I will say it never happened. I will never admit to something I did not do." She also vowed to file a countersuit if she's ever named again as a defendant in a "frivolous lawsuit".
The outcome of the trial has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising Cardi B for standing up against disrespect and others expressing concern over her response.
