Black Queens Drop to 66th in FIFA Rankings Ahead of WAFCON

Accra, Ghana - 13 June, 2025 - The Ghana Women's National Football Team, affectionately known as the Black Queens, has experienced a slight dip in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday, June 12. Under the stewardship of coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, the team has dropped one place globally and continentally.

According to the rankings, the Black Queens are now 66th in the world, down from 65th, and sixth in Africa, having previously held fifth position in the CAF rankings since March. The team's recent performances have been a major contributing factor to the decline, with just one win in four games played since the last update. The Black Queens managed to secure a win in their first friendly match against Senegal but lost two and drew one.

Despite the setback, the team is focused on the upcoming 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which has been delayed but is expected to be a crucial tournament for Ghana's women's football.
