Bishop Salifu Amoako's Son Jailed Six Months Over Fatal East Legon Crash
The 16-year-old son of Bishop Salifu Amoako has been sentenced to six months at the Senior Correctional Centre in Accra for his role in a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two people in East Legon. The teenager, who was driving without a license, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and other charges related to the accident.
The court's decision comes after the teenager changed his initial plea of not guilty to guilty, paving the way for his conviction. As part of his sentence, the teenager will be required to report to probation officers every two weeks and sign an undertaking to refrain from driving until he turns 18.
In a separate ruling, his parents, Bishop Salifu Amoako and his wife, were fined GHc 6,000 each for failing to properly supervise their son. They were also ordered to pay for damages caused by the accident, including a light pole valued at GHc 8,000.
