Bawumia touts NPP's job creation record, says 2.6 million jobs created

Accra, Ghana - Accra, Nov 4, 2024 - Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has claimed that the government has created approximately 2.6 million jobs, with 1.4 million in the private sector and 1.2 million in the public sector, citing data from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

This achievement reflects the government's commitment to strengthening Ghana's economy and expanding opportunities for its citizens. Bawumia acknowledged the current economic challenges but reassured the public of his dedication to further job creation if elected in the December elections.

“We have done a remarkable job in creating jobs in the last seven years, indeed so far, as of yesterday or a day before…I checked the data from SSNIT and other sources and so far, between 2017 and 2024, the latest data is that we have created 2.6 million jobs. “1.4 in the private sector and 1.2 in the public sector. This is the highest of any government in the 4th Republic and the highest job creation. We have more to do because we still have high unemployment. Our youth still need jobs,” he stated.
