Accra, Ghana - 16 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, will present the government's maiden budget on March 11, 2025, outlining a comprehensive economic plan to stabilize the economy and promote growth, according to Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga.

“The Finance Minister has now proposed March 11, 2025 as the new date to bring the budget to the House for consideration”, Ayariga made the announcement on the floor of Parliament. 

The budget is expected to introduce sweeping changes, including the abolition of several taxes, aimed at easing fiscal pressures and reducing reliance on imported goods.

The government's economic strategy will be presented to Parliament, providing a clear direction for Ghana's economic development.

Key highlights of the budget are expected to include:

- Tax reforms to stimulate economic growth
- Revenue administration reforms to improve efficiency
- Strategies to address debt challenges in the energy sector
- Measures to optimize government spending
- Efforts to stabilize the exchange rate and promote economic stability

The budget presentation follows weeks of discussions between the government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), aimed at refining fiscal policies and promoting economic stability.

Mahama Ayariga also disclosed that the President John Mahama is has proposed to deliver his inaugural State of the Nation Address on February 27, 2025.
