Trafigura Deal: Finance Ministry refutes claims of Government Inaction
Mohammed Amin Adam is Ghana's Finance Minister

Accra, Ghana - The Ghanaian Finance Ministry has responded to a letter circulating on social media regarding negotiations with Trafigura, a global commodities trading company.

The letter sparked public debate, with some interpreting it as a sign of government inaction on a pending settlement agreement.

However, the Ministry refuted these claims, stating that necessary arrangements are in place to fulfill financial obligations to Trafigura as part of a negotiated settlement.

According to the Ministry, the letter referenced ongoing discussions aimed at resolving the matter and should not be misconstrued as government negligence.

This development comes after months of negotiations between Ghana and Trafigura to settle outstanding claims related to a contractual agreement.

Trafigura, a significant player in Ghana's fuel and energy sector, has been involved in a financial dispute requiring careful negotiation.

The Finance Ministry reassured the public that the government remains committed to settling claims promptly and bringing the matter to a close.

The Ministry expressed surprise over the letter's leak, emphasizing that it was part of ongoing discussions and not indicative of government inaction.
