Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is Ghana's Finance Minister

Accra, Ghana - 22 April, 2025 - Ghana's Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, is set to lead the country's delegation to the 2025 IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, a crucial event following a significant milestone in Ghana's economic journey.

Recently, Ghana secured a staff-level agreement with the IMF on the fourth review of its supported program, paving the way for approximately $370 million in funding.

This development is notable, especially considering the previous administration missed several structural benchmarks and quantitative targets. However, the new government's swift actions have seemingly restored international confidence in Ghana's economic direction.

During the meetings, Dr. Forson will engage in high-level discussions with global leaders on key issues such as job creation, energy access, and climate resilience. A pivotal meeting with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva will focus on Ghana's progress, challenges, and reform agenda.

The government has introduced key reforms to restore macroeconomic stability, including a comprehensive audit of outstanding payables, amendments to the Procurement Act, and reforms to the Public Financial Management Act. Dr. Forson will share "Ghana's reset story," highlighting the country's vision for macroeconomic stability, debt sustainability, and inclusive growth, aiming to strengthen investor confidence and drive the country towards "The Ghana We Want."
