Asogli State Destools Togbe Afiatsoa III as Ho Mankrado Over Misconduct

Ho, Volta Region, Ghana - 18 April, 2025 - The traditional leadership of the Asogli State in Ghana's Volta Region has undergone a significant change with the destoolment of Togbe Afiatsoa III, the Mankrado of Ho Bankoe.
The Asogli State Council announced the decision on April 17, 2025 via a statement, citing persistent misconduct and insubordination as the reasons for the removal.
According to the Council, Togbe Afiatsoa III had shown a blatant disregard for traditional authority and had deliberately denigrated the revered Agbogbome Stool. Despite efforts to reform him, he continued to bring the name of Asogli into disrepute, prompting the Council to take decisive action.
The destoolment followed exhaustive consultations and a unanimous agreement among the Elders, Chiefs, and Kingmakers of the Asogli State Council. Traditional rites were performed at the Asogli State Palace in Ho to signify the end of Togbe Afiatsoa III's reign as Mankrado of Ho Bankoe.
“Over an extended period, he has exhibited gross disregard for Traditional Authority, deliberately denigrated the revered Agbogbome Stool and persistently brought the name of Asogli into disrepute.
“Henceforth, he ceases to be recognised in any capacity whatsoever as Mankrado of Ho Bankoe,''
“Sadly, he chose to spurn all such opportunities and instead resorted to the reckless use of social media and other public platforms to spread falsehoods, cast aspersions and peddle misinformation aimed at undermining the image, integrity and cohesion of the traditional leadership of both Ho and the larger Asogli State,” portions of the statement read.
